Overview
The properties of SSM logs are modified through this menu option. Through this option the following can be modified:
- Maximum logfile size
- Alarm log command (see About Alarm Events)
- Program to execute after backing up logs
- Directory where current logs are stored
- Directory where old logs are stored (Backup directory for logs)
Setting Log Parameters
- Logfile Maximum Size: This is the maximum allowable size (in Kbytes for the current logfile. The logs are normally kept at a reasonable size to allow for quicker searches. Once the log reaches the maximum size, it is moved to Backup Directory for Logs (see below) and a new log is started.
- Alarm Log Command: Select command to be used when an
alarm event occurs.
See: About Alarm Events
- Program After Log Backup: This is an optional parameter that
specifies the program to execute when the log has been backed up.
The program you enter gets the name of the log file as the only
argument.
For more information, see the tehcnical overview in the manual.
- Log Directory: This is the directory where current logs are
kept. By default, this is the $BOKS_data directory, as
specified in the /etc/opt/SUNWssm/ENV file.
- Backup Directory for Logs: This is the directory where old logs are stored. If no directory is specified, then the old log is stored in the directory specified in the Log Directory parameter. Old logs are stored in the form of L[log start date]-[log end date] where log start date and log end date are in the format of YYMMDD.
